Gems of Coral Gables

For the millions of annual visitors to Miami, it’s all fun in the sun, sand, and ocean on South Beach. But they often miss one of the best-hidden treasures South Florida has to offer, Coral Gables. This enclave within the city of Miami boasts its own government and rich history. There are tons of destinations within Coral Gables, but here are the ones you definitely don’t want to miss:

1) Venetian Pool

The 820,000 gallon pool was created in 1923 from a coral rock quarry and is fed daily with water from an underground aquifer. It is the main attraction for visitors to Coral Gables. With waterfalls and a grotto, you’ll feel like the star of a movie when soaking in the cool spring water.

2) Fairchild Botanical Garden

Opened in 1938, this botanic garden features gorgeous greenery and year-round tropical splendor. Its picturesque scenery is often the backdrop for countless weddings, festivals, and art installations.

3) Miracle Mile

In the center of downtown Coral Gables, you’ll find the shopping destination of Miracle Mile. Hundreds of independently owned businesses offer unique experiences in showrooms featuring housewares, clothing, accessories, and more. It is also known for chef-driven restaurants, hair salons, and wedding related retailers.

4) The Biltmore

This impressive structure is stunning both inside and out. Opened in 1926, as a 400 room hotel & sporting resort, the Biltmore recently underwent a multimillion-dollar restoration. It boasts vivid vaulted ceilings, golf & tennis clubs, a massive pool, and picturesque lobby. Be sure to check out their Sunday Champagne brunch!

5) Giralda Plaza

Located just two blocks north of Miracle Mile, this walkable street is known for delicious outdoor dining and special events. Stop by during the winter season for Giralda Under the Stars, or catch a free yoga class on the plaza every Saturday morning.

After enjoying all these memorable experiences, take home a wearable souvenir of your fabulous trip to Coral Gables from the ultimate travel destination, Jae’s Jewelers. This family owned and operated boutique is centrally located on Miracle Mile in Downtown Coral Gables. It has been serving the local community since 1945 and is the only American Gem Society accredited store in the city.
